Days Gone By
This is a photo of the "Black Diamonds Havana Band" in Glasgow, 2001. The tenor man (center in saxes) Jim Hastie is oustanding. At one time, he played 1st clarinet in the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. The band leader John Power just sent me the photo set at College Club at Glasgow Uni. Could this not just as easily have been 1941?

Dear Ward, Jim Hastie (note the spelling) played in the Central Band of the RAF, and not the Royal Marines. He is still with the BDHB, but is frequently away on gigs with other bands on a Friday.
Bye for now.
Regards,
John Power
