Winter time
It's been a whopping month since I posted here. What happened?
Some insulation guys put in R-38 upstairs, so we are a little more energy efficient now, not to mention warmer. I still have work to do on the house's thermal weaknesses, mostly the big windows. Looks like expensive window treatments are in order, all around.
Some tree guys came and cut down a few storm damaged branches of rather large proportions. This is something I did not think about when we signed on the dotted line. The lot is lovely, but loaded with trees, and they will require some attention. Must keep everything beautiful, or, at least not crashing on the neighbors fence and swing set.
We went to Indianapolis for Christmas. That was all good. The young cousins Alex, Ashliegh and Kathryn had a wonderful time and we really enjoyed our one night in Kentucky. It's a lovely state. On the way back, American Airlines decided to go out on the tarmac amid thunderstorms and then sit and sit and sit and sit for the storms to clear, which happend, after 3 1/2 hours. Sheesh. We did get back finally, 3 hours late.
We spent New Year's at home and watched a mostly dissapointing collection of bowl games. Train of thought: Purdue, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Hindenburg, Titanic, Dukakis. (credit a movie here). Glad we have the NFL, and more competetive NCAA men's basketball season. GO COLTS!
Shortly after the 1st of 2007, Margaret Wilhelm (a cousin of sorts) came to town. For the record, Margaret and I share one common great grand parent. My grandfather William Drennan and her grandmother Grace Neely were 1/2 brother and sister. I believe Margaret is the oldest of the generation, and I am the youngest, so she has two children who are older than me! Family historians feel free to chime in if I'm wrong on this. I think there was a Grougan in the mix, Grace's maiden name (?) We also heard the Margaret's Aunt Eloise has been ill and is improving. We're all praying for improving health for Aunt Eloise!
The weather turned sour last week, again. We've been greeted with about 6 inches of snow total over three occasions, and reintroduced to the ice rink. It was not as bad this time. It feels like the midwest, being so cold, but there're two differences 1) more hills, 2) fewer road crews. So it's pretty white knuckle on the road. I should get chains. The freeze however is relenting.
Kathryn is well, and really talkative lately. Leah is also well.

Thanks for the update, Ward! I'm glad everyone is doing well. Sorry the weather is giving you grief. Believe me, I understand. I lost 5 days of work (= 5 days of income!) with our two December blizzards.
