Classes
Hi, y'all. It's Leah. :) Just for an update.....I'm enrolled in an online program to earn the clinical audiology doctorate that is now the minimum requirement. I took a survey that counted my work experience and then picked courses to enroll in to make up certain areas. It's a short-term solution to bridge all of us working audiologists into the fold. That's the intro for those who need it. I'm about half-way through my program, with 8 classes down or almost and 8 left. I'm taking one class at a time due to my time constraints, each one lasting 6 weeks. (It's like taking a regular semester course and breaking it up into smaller units.) I'm learning ALOT! which is a good thing since it's not free, but I also feel that I will have definitely earned the degree. I will be finished for good in the fall of 08 after taking a comp exam. I find the courses just challenging enough without being overwhelming. I find that it's easier to study subjects that I can apply the next day in the clinic, and for which I already have a knowledge base.
OK, ok, I can see your eyes glazing over right now, so I'll stop. (It's really exciting for most of the audiologists, though, if you want to know more, just ask me.) ;)
